Purcell's story

I’ve been playing badminton on and off for over 15 years, starting in an after-school club and later joining a junior development squad.

After a break from the game, I picked it back up when I moved to Yorkshire in 2018—and haven’t looked back since. I’ve been lucky to play for some brilliant clubs like Pontefract BC, where I was part of a few title-winning teams, and Batley BC, which helped me fall back in love with the sport.

These days, I play for Garforth in the Yorkshire League, where I’m still learning so much as we compete against some of the best in the region. Competition-wise, I mainly focus on OS and XD events where I have picked up a range of medals in local tournaments and earned a couple of Bronze medals in BE events—still driven and chasing that top spot!
